[JURIST] The government of Pakistan has prepared a new complaint against suspended Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry [official website; JURIST news archive], Pakistan Minister of Law, Justice & Human Rights Muhammad Wasi Zafar [official profile] said Sunday. Zafar added that the new document will be filed at an "appropriate time," although he refused to provide details on the new charges.

Last Thursday, three intelligence directors under Musharraf's government accused the suspended chief justice of wanting to head an interim government [JURIST report] and spying on fellow judges. The Supreme Court of Pakistan [official website] is expected to rule this week on whether it has jurisdiction [JURIST report] over the legal disputes involving Chaudhry's March 9 suspension [JURIST report] for alleged abuses of office after postponing a decision last Friday [JURIST report]. Legal observers say that the delay may have reflected internal disagreements amongst the thirteen justices that sit on the bench. Reuters has more. AFP has additional coverage.
