Ahmadinejad said "the peaceful use of nuclear fuel production technology" is Iran's "right," promising not to give in to pressure from the UN. UN Security Council Resolution 1696 [text], adopted by a 14-1 vote Monday, gives Iran until August 31 to halt uranium enrichment and threatens sanctions if it does not comply, although it requires additional Security Council discussion before sanctions can actually be imposed. AP has more.
