Federal judges back Texas redistricting again on remand Kate Heneroty at 1:06 PM ET
[JURIST] A panel of three federal judges Thursday reaffirmed an earlier decision to reject a legal challenge to the 2003 Texas congressional redistricting plan [official TX redistricting website], concluding the plan was consistent with federal law and the Constitution. In 2004, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas [official website] declared the plan constitutional and the decision was appealed to the US Supreme Court, which remanded the case back for review [JURIST report]. Attorneys for Democrats argue that the GOP-redrawn district map is overly partisan, politically motivated and dilutes minority votes - they plan to appeal this decision to the Supreme Court.
