[JURIST] Indonesian prosecutors presenting their case against Muslim cleric Abu Bakar Bashir [BBC News profile] asked a court Tuesday to sentence him to eight years in prison for terror charges, including a link to the 2002 Bali bombings. Prosecutors' sentence request was much lower than the maximum available, which would have been the death penalty, leading some to question Indonesia's commitment to prosecuting suspected terrorists. Bashir, 66, is accused of inciting the bombings in Bali that left 202 dead, and he is accused of involvement with a bombing in Jakarta in 2003 that killed 12.
