Utah high court says bigamy laws don't infringe on religious freedom

The Utah Supreme Court has upheld the bigamy conviction of Tom Green, denying his argument that the state's anti-bigamy laws violated Green's First Amendment right to religious freedom. The court ruled that "Utah's bigamy statute does not attempt to target only religiously motivated bigamy. Any individual who violates the statute, whether for religious or secular reasons, is subject to prosecution." Read the court's full opinion. Green's attorney indicated that he may appeal the case to the US Supreme Court. AP has more.
