Prosecution accuses Milosevic of evading trial by not taking medication
Brandon Smith at 3:00 PM ET

Prosecutors in Slobodan Milosevic's Hague trial for crimes against humanity and violation of the laws of war accused the former Yugoslav president Wednesday of attempting to evade his trial by failing to properly take medication for high blood pressure. Prosecutors cited medical reports from experts who agreed that Milosevic was not healthy enough to conduct his own defense, probably due to his failure to take the medicine as prescribed, and that he is providing incorrect information regarding the intake of the his medicine. Having been interrupted over a dozen times already due to his ailing health, Milosevic's trial is now in its third year. Milosevic, at risk for a massive heart attack, denied the allegations. AFP has more. Click here for more information on the case from the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. Recorded video of the opening day of Milosevic's defense is online here from the ICTY and dominvina.net (the proceedings begin at minute 10 of the raw tape).
