Marine convicted of prisoner abuse charges
Russell Adkins at 11:25 PM ET

Marine Sgt. Gary Pittman, a reservist from New York, was found guilty of dereliction of duty and abuse of prisoners at a detention camp in Iraq, crimes for which he may be sentenced to up to nine months in a military prison and bad-conduct discharge. However, Pittman was acquitted of the more serious charge of assaulting a 52-year old Iraqi man who later died. AP has more. JURIST's Paper Chase has background on the case.
