A Sudanese police chief has said that Khartoum will start disarming Arab militias in the Darfur region next week, as mandated by the recent UN Security Council
resolution. According to Brigadier General Jamal al-Hueres, the disarmament of state-sponsored militias "will be carried out both on a voluntary basis and through searches carried out by the police." AFP has the
