Mass. judge refuses to block law barring marriage of out-of-state couples
Jeannie Shawl at 2:19 PM ET

Massachusetts Superior Court Judge Carol Ball Wednesday refused to block the state from enforcing a 1913 law barring out-of-state couples from marrying in Massachusetts if their marriage would be illegal in their home state. Eight same-sex couples had sued to block enforcement of the law, arguing that it was discriminatory. AP has more. JURIST's Paper Chase has background on the case.
