Colin Powell appears before grand jury investigating CIA leak case
Chris Buell at 2:58 PM ET

Secretary of State Colin Powell has appeared before the grand jury investigating the leak of an undercover CIA agent's name to the press, though he is not the subject of the investigation, the State Department said Sunday. Department spokesman Richard Boucher said Powell had appeared before the panel on July 16. Other members of the administration, including White House counsel Alberto Gonzales and spokesman Scott McClellan, have appeared before the grand jury, and both President Bush and Vice President Cheney have been interviewed by investigators. Newsweek was the first to report Powell's appearance before the grand jury. AP has the full story.
