UPDATE ~ World Court rules West Bank barrier is illegal

The International Court of Justice has formally announced its ruling that the barrier being constructed by Israel is illegal and construction should be halted. The announcement was made Friday morning, but a copy of the opinion had been leaked to the press earlier. The advisory opinion will be available on the court's Web site shortly. CBC News has background on the security fence. Reuters has more.
