French parliament approves stem cell research legislation

France's parliament passed Friday updates to the country's bioethics law, allowing a limited five-year period for stem cell research on human embryos. The law also include harsher penalties for reproductive cloning, which the legislation calls a "crime against humanity" and punishes with 20 years in prison. The British Embassy in France has background on France's bioethics legislation. AP has more.
