Canada considers penalties in response to Kazemi trial verdict
Jeannie Shawl at 10:55 AM ET

Canada has said it is considering possible penalties against Tehran after an Iranian court acquitted the man accused of killing Canadian photographer Zahra Kazemi while she was being detained for taking photos of an Iranian prison. Although Intelligence Ministry agent Mohammad Reza Aqdam was cleared of "semi-intentional murder" due to lack of evidence, Canada's foreign minister said "this trial has done nothing to answer the real questions about how Zahra Kazemi died or to bring the perpetrators of her murder to justice." Reuters has the full story. CBC News has background on Kazemi and the trial of her alleged killer. BBC News has more on the reaction to the verdict.
