EU Parliament president seeks to stop airline passenger data deal

European Parliament President Pat Cox asked the European Court of Justice Friday to annul a US-EU agreement to share private airline passenger data. The European Commission signed the agreement May 28 in Washington, but it has since been objected to by human rights groups and the EU Parliament. The agreement is intended to allow authorities to screen for possible terrorists and allows for the release of 34 different items of information regarding a passenger. The Parliament had previously warned that it would challenge any such agreement. AFP has more.
