Georgia senate approves constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage

The Georgia senate today approved by a vote of 40-14 an amendment to that state's constitution that would prohibit gay marriage, according to AP. To be enacted, the proposed amendment would have to be approved by a two-thirds vote of Georgia's other legislative body and then by the state's voters. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has more.
