South Dakota lawmakers seek to criminalize abortion

In Monday's criminal law and punishment news, MichNews.com reports that lawmakers in South Dakota are seeking to pass a bill that would criminalize abortion unless it is necessary to save the mother's life. The Utah House of Representatives has approved a bill that would replace the firing squad with lethal injection for the state's death-row inmates, according to AP.
