Civil procedure - Section C - Wasserman
Welcome to Civil Procedure! I look forward to meeting you on Monday, January 8, 2018, at
3:30 p.m. in Room 111. In the meantime, I’d like to share some important information with you.
The course will have a web page on The West Education Network (“TWEN”). The
URL, from which you will access the TWEN page with your Westlaw password, is
http://lawschool.westlaw.com/twen/. By Thursday, January 4, 2018, the TWEN page will
contain the course description; the syllabus; e-mail links; study materials (including copies of
exams administered in prior years); supplementary readings; the videos; the quizzes; and links to
the CALI Civil Procedure exercises. Please join the TWEN course page before our first class
meeting. Throughout the course, I will post the PowerPoint slides used in class to the TWEN
page. I will also post (to the “study materials” page on TWEN) pdf files of the quizzes (with the
correct answers marked and blank quizzes without the answers marked) after each quiz has been
taken. Please print out a copy of the syllabus and bring it with you to class.
Assignment for first class:
As previously announced, you should watch the first four videos and complete the quiz
on videos 1-4 no later than ONE HOUR BEFORE the first class (i.e., by 2:30 p.m. on Mon.,
Jan. 8, 2018). The passwords for the first four videos are Wilson (for video 1); Warren (for
video 2); Trimble (for video 3); and Thomas (for video 4). When you complete the quiz on
videos 1-4, be sure to make a note of the password for video 5.
In addition to watching the videos and taking the quiz, please read International Shoe Co.
v. Washington (U.S. 1945) in MARCUS, REDISH, SHERMAN & PFANDER, CIVIL PROCEDURE: A
MODERN APPROACH (6th ed. 2013) at 764-71.
In the meantime, enjoy the holidays and have a wonderful break!
