UN report on US compliance with torture treaty [UN CAT]

Conclusions and recommendations of the Committee against Torture: United States of America, UN Committee Against Torture, May 18, 2006 [saying that to comply with the terms of the Convention Against Torture the US should shut down its prison for terror suspects at Guantanamo Bay, and urging the US to end the practice of extraordinary rendition and release the location of alleged secret US prisons].

Excerpt:
The State party should cease to detain any person at Guantanamo Bay and close this detention facility, permit access by the detainees to judicial process or release them as soon as possible, ensuring that they are not returned to any State where they could face a real risk of being tortured, in order to comply with its obligations under the Convention.
